THE BOY SCOUT NECKERCHIEF
At some point, Scouts have learned that our troop neckerchief has other uses besides looking good and showing our troop's colors. You found that it can be used in first aid, too. Throughout your scouting career, you'll find that the neckerchief has other uses, too
.
There's one use, though that you may not think of - and that's to remind you of the Scout Oath. The neckerchief is a triangle, and its' three corners should remind you of something you recently learned - our Scout Oath.

The Oath, you remember, has three corners, too - duty to God and country, duty to others and duty to self. From now on, every time you put on your neckerchief, it should remind you of the things you pledge each time you repeat the Scout Oath.
From  Buckskin Council, Charleston, WV

ADVANCEMENT:

If any scout has completed the requirements to advance, he should ask a for a Scoutmaster Conference and then ask Mrs. Brigham for a Board of Review.  It is up to the scout to ask for the assistance either via email, phone or in person.  It is also up to the scout to keep track of his service hours.  Mrs. Pietruszka will still be working with scouts writing an Eagle projects.

Make sure you have the right requirements by going to the BSA site for the most current requirements.  Your handbook may be out of date as requirements have changed in the past year.  Click here for the current rank requirements.

YOUTH PROTECTION: All adults listed on our charter MUST have current youth protection BEFORE we re-charter in early December.  If not, our charter will be rejected.  If your YP expires before 12/31/10, please do the training ASAP. If it expires in December, please do it in November.  If you're not sure when it expires, ask Pat Pietruszka.  Click here for the training link.

On  the weekend of June 6th 1960, 5,100 Scouts and their leaders attended the 50th Anniversary Jubilee Jamboree at Chestnut Ridge Park.  This camp, featured a communication network between the 14 sub camps. One of the many high lights of the celebration was the broadcasting of the scout activities by the WEBR traffic copter. Who coordinated the network?

    6. Dr. Eastman was a member of the National Council of Indian Affairs. In 1890, Dr. Eastman, a Sioux Indian, was sent to Wounded Knee to negotiate peace with the Ghost Dancers. What was his Sioux name and in 1914? (Buffalo Council's summer camp was named in his honor.)
